THE ROSE ELLA WARING OPEN SCHOLARSHIP
The Rose Ella Waring Scholarship is the school’s most prestigious Boarder award, representing 75% of both Tuition and Boarding fees. It is awarded to a boarder entering Grade 8 and is tenable for 5 years. The criteria laid down by the Rose Ella Waring Trust include academic ability, leadership potential, all-round participation and sound character.
Letters of application, giving a brief CV, are invited from parents of girls who are currently in Grade 7 and who are seeking admission as Boarders in Grade 8.
MAJOR ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BOARDERS & DAY GIRLS
1. Major Day Girl Scholarship representing 80% of tuition fees.
2. Major Boarder Scholarship representing 40% of both tuition and boarding fees.
These Major Scholarships are awarded annually and are tenable for 5 years, provided the recipients maintain a high standard.
MINOR ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BOARDERS & DAY GIRLS
Minor Academic Scholarships, representing a smaller percentage of tuition and boarding fees, are awarded annually to deserving candidates and are tenable for 5 years.
Two Music Scholarships, representing 70% and 40% of tuition fees, are offered, though not necessarily awarded, to pupils currently in Grade 7. The scholarships are tenable for 5 years. Excellence in music is a prerequisite.
The recipients are required to:
- study Music as a subject in Grades 8 and 9, after which they may choose to continue Music as a subject in Grades 10, 11 and 12; and
- make a significant contribution to Music throughout Grades 8 to 12 by active participation in the Choir and/or the Wind Ensemble
Girls entering for the Music Scholarship must write the The Musical Practical Examination AND The Entrance & Scholarship Examinations
Two Sport Scholarships, representing 70% and 40% of tuition fees, are offered, though not necessarily awarded, to pupils currently in Grade 7. It must be noted that the scholarships, which are tenable for 5 years, will be offered to the two most deserving Grade 7 candidates.
Candidates entering for the Sport Scholarships are tested and interviewed by a panel which includes Sports Staff and one of the Deputy Headmistresses during the period of the entrance and scholarship examinations. Besides the obvious criteria of outstanding sporting talent and representation at either regional or provincial level in one or more sporting codes, the successful candidates should exhibit qualities of leadership and sportsmanship in accordance with the school’s core values.

CLOSED ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Limited Closed Scholarships, representing 50% of tuition fees, are awarded annually and are tenable for 5 years. Girls in Grade 7 who attend the following schools are eligible for consideration:

3. Clifton Nottingham Road
4. Cowan House
5. Laddsworth Primary
6. The Wykeham Collegiate Junior School
7. Durban & Coastal Schools
8. KZN Country District Schools
MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP FOR ENTRY INTO GRADE 10
This scholarship is awarded to a non-TWC pupil and is tenable for 3 years. Applicants in Grade 9, whose reports indicate exceptional ability in this subject, are invited to write a Mathematics Scholarship Examination. This Scholarship represents 50% of tuition fees.
SHIRLEY SIMONS FUND
Girls who are direct descendants of Old Girls of either Wykeham or Girls' Collegiate or The Wykeham Collegiate are eligible in terms of this fund to apply for bursary assistance. Please note the closing date for applications for the 2018 academic year is WEDNESDAY 19 APRIL 2017.
OLD GIRLS' GUILD BURSARY
Girls who are direct descendants of Old Girls of either Wykeham or Girls' Collegiate or The Wykeham Collegiate are eligible in terms of this bursary to apply for financial assistance. This bursary is awarded to one pupil every 5 years and it is tenable for the duration of the recipient's stay at The Wykeham Collegiate, that is Grade 8 - 12. It is due to be awarded again for 2021 entry to Grade 8.
Limited funds are available for bursaries. Forms are obtainable from The Admissions Secretary on request.
