The Wykeham Collegiate

is a leading Independent Girls’ School in Pietermaritzburg, offering a progressive, holistic education, based on Christian values. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of:

HR-Payroll Administrator

Full Time Position

(Ref: HRPY)

 Starting 6 January 2025 (negotiable)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Payroll Administration
    • Process monthly payroll (end to end processing).
    • Prepare for submission of statutory payments (e.g. UIF, SDL, PAYE) on time.
    • Address payroll employees’ queries promptly and professionally.
  • HR Administration
    • Maintain accurate employee records, including contracts, personal information.
    • Assist with recruitment processes, including preparation of job ads, coordinating interviews, and onboarding.
    • Support with day-to-day HR operations. Process staff changes and provide staff with their document requests.
    • Custodian of leave management system.
    • Support in the development and implementation of HR policies.
  • Compliance and Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with basic conditions of employment and relevant labour laws.
    • Prepare and submit HR and payroll reports.
    • Liaise with external bodies for benefits, audits, statutory reporting, and submissions.
  • Employee Relations
    • Respond to HR-related inquiries, aiding with HR policies and practices.
    • Support in coordinating staff wellness and development programmes.

 EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Human Resources, Payroll Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in HR and payroll administration.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, PaySpace) and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Employee Self-Service (ESS) platforms.
  • Prior experience working within a school or environment will be advantageous.

  • Strong organising, planning, and reporting Paying attention to detail and the ability to multitask is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity. Work independently and as part of a team.
